I'm curious: what kind of Democrats are Asian-Americans? I.E. how many are the centrist Biden types, and how many are the progressive/"woke" types. Because it's possible that even if they're Democrats, they may still be to the right of the median white liberal on several issues.
I doubt there's much empirical research on this, but it's worth exploring.
That is indeed an interesting question. My personal impression, and this may be an unrepresentative impression cus I live in SF and am surrounded by Berkeley kids, is that young college-educated Asians are pretty left-wing Democrats. They all have BLM on their instas and post stories about gender-affirming care. That said, polls show that self-identified white liberals are to the left of even blacks on racial issues so maybe Asian Democrats overall aren’t quite that far left, especially the foreign born ones who weren’t educated in American schools.
